(Good for working out)

Do you guys remember way back when I overheard my dad saying he was going over to Californ-i-a for his Disney Job? Well, if you don't remember he was talking about going that weekend or the next but his stained glass has taken him an unexpected couple more weeks, but he has set a day for next friday...and guess who he is taking? Yep, this girl! Huzzah! Can't wait for the sunshine and he's still unsure if we can get into Disney Land for free or whatever, but really it doesn't even matter.
I need me some Vegas, some sun, and the beach and I will be satisfied.
Watch out shmexy tan beach boys!

Gotta Have the Juice

My current obsessions:::

Mmm Almond Milk. Vanilla Flavor. My drug. I just cannot get enough of this stuff.

Lip stick in general but Mary Kay Maple Lipstick is currently my fav.. It's just subtle enough that I can wear it with any outfit and it won't be overbearing. Next, I am on the hunt for a darker shade of plum.

Currently obsessed with this chicks hair! (and of course her style.)

For all my oily skinned sisters, this is the holy grail of all moisturizers/face primers. Highly Recommend! and it smells yummy. ;)

Bold Brows and winged eyeliner. Can't get enough. eryy day.

MAC Brushes. More specifically brushes # 168 (contour brush), #266 (eyeliner brush), and #187 (all over face brush). Worth an arm and a leg, but worth it.
Love. MAC Pro Long Wear Blush in Rosy Outlook.

Yes people, last week I finally saw Pitch Perfect. Fat Amy. So funny.

"Amy, what are you doing?"
"I'm doing horizontal running."

"I have a feeling we should kiss. Is that a good feeling or an incorrect feeling?"
"Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm... better not."

"Ya no..don't put me down for cardio."

Did the ending remind anyone of the movie Easy A with Emma Stone though? Not that it was bad but it
just reminded me of it..minus the epic lawn mower ride into the sunset...
Maybe it was just the song Don't you forget about me by Simple Minds..?

What a Day

Well, I just thought I would share the awkwardness that was today.

1// While I was driving home from working out, I stopped at a pretty big intersection where I found a tiny little wiener dog just walking around, yes folks in the middle of the intersection. Here I am in the car alone freaking out and saying to myself "Ahhhh don't get run over don't get run over pleeeaseee don't get runover..." I seriously thought about just getting out of the car and grabbing the pooch for myself but I was in the turning lane....not exactly a lane you want to be in when you want to hop out and go catch a dog.
Luckily the owners or some amazing pedestrian grabbed the little dog when the light turned red.

"Whew thank you pedestrian."

2// On that same drive home, I come to a stop light and some boys (who knows how old) rolls down the window and pulls out what looks to be a blow horn speaker type thingy and is like talking to me and trying to get my attention--keep in mind it's like 10 at night--I couldn't understand them (my windows were rolled up. Music on full blast)...the light turns green I proceed to go and they keep a steady pace with me...(also keep in mind I just came back from the gym and when I come back from the gym I am no pretty girl.) Luckily once again I had to turn to go home and thank goodness I wasn't followed. After that little schpeel I was like, "what the crap just happened?"

3// Okay before the drive home, I was working out on this track that is pretty close to where I live, it's like 9 at night and as I am running I can see that there is like this couple that is near the track and they were like makin out. Seriously people? I have to say it but seriously get a room. I get that you're trying to be all romantic and make out under the stars and all, but I am here to run so don't mind me huffin and puffin. Just trying to get in my workout for the day.

4// Confession: Yes. I do listen to Cheetah Girls while I exercise.
5// Yes. I do Sing to my hearts content (aka really loud) when I am out driving. Nope. Don't care who's watchin. ~or listening for that matter.~
6// I swear I have some kind of disease or something because I lose unnatural amounts of hair these days. I'm not ready to go bald yet people. Wait. What am I saying? I don't want to ever be bald.

and that's all I have to say about today.   :)

Footprints

At first I wasn't sure what was going to come from this blog, but I'd have to say that as of now, I need a little motivation and inspiration. I'm pretty sure all of you have heard of this little story or poem thing but I still really like it and I feel like when I look back on my blog and what I shared, I want this story on here. I don't want this whole blog to be only talking about trials and sad times and endurance, I want hope and faith and happiness.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"Your promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have been only one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you the most, you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

- Mary Stevenson

Gawl now I want to go to the beach.

On Repeat

Even though I didn't know Sydney Taylor Bruning or her family, I followed her blog and I loved the honesty in her posts.
I really felt like I could relate to her.
I've learned that you just don't know what people are struggling through.
You don't know the trials that they are facing.
I know you've all heard this saying but Be Kind for Everyone is fighting a  hard battle.
I feel like that could have been any of us.

Too much of life is wasted on things that don't matter. I feel like I can be so self involved that I am careless to let those around me know how much they mean to me.

Miss no opportunity to hug those who are still with you. Tell them, "I love you..thank you..you are so important to me."

All the Single Ladies **Put your hands up**

Dearest Dream Girl,

You probably don't know me yet, and I'm not sure I know you either, but you and I will be in love someday.
I think of you all the time. I wonder about things like, what you look like, what things you like to do, what it is about you that will make me fall in love with you, and how I will know when I find you.
However, there are a few things that I know already. I know that you're a faithful daughter of our Heavenly Father and that you have a testimony of the gospel.
Dream Girl, I'm not interested in the girl who giver her lips freely, the girl who is immodest in dress and conduct. I'm not interested in the girl who changes her standards to fit her company; the girl who can't see anything wrong with the occasional cigarette, drink, or immortality. I'm not looking for you at shady parties because you are not there.
Neither of us is perfect, but we will love each other for what we want to be as well as what we are. And when we don't see eye to eye, we will kneel hand in hand and seek the inspiration of the Father.
There will not be many tomorrows until we find each other, and I'm waiting anxiously for that day. Stay sweet and pure, because I'll be looking for you. Until then, sweet dreams.

Love,
Your Future Husband

Five

I thought this would be fun, just because I see other bloggers do these questionnaires and I love reading the answers.....
Five things you probably didn't know about me.

//1//
I pretty much have all of The Grinch memorized.

//2//
My name is Brittany Bird and I am a shopaholic. Is there a shopaholics anonymous? I would be leader of that club.

//3//
Dr. Pepper. mm. I am in love.

//4//
Even though I love being social and meeting new people, I’m a total introvert by nature and need my alone time.

//5//
I specifically remember trips to Moab and California when I was little and listening to both Erasure and Depeche Mode (they are bands in case no one knows what I'm talking about haha) and everyone singing along having a grand ol' time with the windows rolled down--hot summer days.
just can't get enough
just can't get enough...

Realize

We all go through days of hurt, happiness, anger, doubt, and fear. Lately, I have been really confused about my future: What career path to take..What boys to date (as dumb as it sounds, it's as equally important, potential future husband?) even though I am still 18 I feel like that is a valid question....What housing to pick (if I should stay in my same apartment)...How to pay for college (everyone seems to know what they are doing--they seem to have their acts together and have jobs and money)..sorry I didn't mean to make this a post with me whining about my "rough" life.
I've really come to realize that for me, what has gotten me through each and every day is the support of my family and friends. without them, I wouldn't be the person I am today. There have been times where I have felt so helpless and alone. Sometimes, it's nice to give a good long cry. But As time goes on I seem to get a warm, calm feeling that everything is going to be alright, and Heavenly Father always seems to remind me of the support I have.
I am so blessed to have my mom in my life, without her I seriously don't know who or where I would be. We have had our differences and we are so different personality wise but she always seems to make me feel loved and fully supported. Every step I take she has been there ready to carry me, if need be.
Keep your friends and family close because you don't know how long you are going to be with them. When life seems too hard, step outside, get some air and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.

Even though it is still fresh in my mind, I haven't talked about it much but would like to give a little tribute to my Grandpa who passed away July 30, feels like just yesterday I walked into the studio room to find him with classical music on and him painting away. This is a video of his first watercolor introduction, he's a genius when it comes to art. I still can see his kind eyes and his hilarious comebacks, I'm so grateful and honored to be your granddaughter, you will be forever missed by so many. I know you're now helping me through my journey in this life--you are the Bird families guardian angel. We love you.
With all my love,
Rest in Peace Grandpa

DIY Heart Mobile

I found this idea here over at beingbrook.com these are her pictures (I give all credit to her) but I seriously want to do this before I go back to college and I'd like to share. My last roommate Brittany hung colored lanterns above her bed and I thought it was such a cute idea, even if this is supposed to be a Valentines DIY project, I can keep it up all year can't I?

Supplies you will need:

Old Lamp shade or something circular like an embroidery hoop.
She purchased her shade at Goodwill for 3$.
Heart Punch
Old Book
Fabric or Ribbon

Punch out a bunch of hearts, then start sewing them together. But before sewing each section of hearts together pull the thread from your machine out about 10 inches so you have a string at the top to tie to the lamp shade.

Take two hearts and put them together and sew down the middle of them. Then she backstitched on the very first heart and on the very last heart for stability.

Sew:
6: 16 hearts long (put these in the very middle)
6: 13 hearts long
6:11 hearts long
6: 9 hearts long

Take the paper off your shade and you will end up with one large metal hoop and one small metal hoop. Cut your fabric into a 1/2 inch strip or use some ribbon. She spray painted the top hoop white so that parts not covered with fabric would still be white.

Hot glue and wrap the fabric around the hoops.

Tie all your hearts on with the 10 inches of thread you left on to top when sewing.  She put the 15 heart sections in the middle and then alternated around the edges 9 heart, 11 heart, 13 heart.  Tie the middle hoop to outside hoop with a few pieces of ribbon or string.  You could even use strong fishing line if you didn’t want to see it.  Attach a string in the middle for hanging.  Once the mobile was hung up she folded all the hearts open to give them the 3D effect.

and Voila! You have just made yourself a 3D Book Page Heart Mobile!

Workin' it Out

I have some more workout music! I'll probably just randomly pop in with some workout music every once in a while. I only have two songs but here they are::

Cheryl Cole Call My Name

The Saturdays What about Us

I mean c'mon if this music doesn't motivate your body to move, I don't know what will.
The second song--the group totally reminds me of The Spice Girls haha, you guys probably already know but they have their own show on E! I am pretty much obsessed along with watching the Kardashians.

Happy

A couple of night ago I came across a movie/documentary called Happy on Netflix---> The description reads-- Happy takes viewers on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the slums of Kolkata in search of what really makes people happy. Combining real-life stories and scientific interviews, the film explores the secrets behind our most valued emotion.
Via Pinterest
Overall I really recommend that you watch this because it is a feel good type documentary but it makes you think about what truly makes you happy. While I've been home, I know I haven't used my time wisely or to the fullest. I find myself spending ridiculous amounts of time on the internet--facebook/blogs..but the thing I tend to do is compare myself and my life to others and I just leave feeling empty and not good enough. I think that is my biggest downfall I know it's easier said than done but I'm going to make it a goal to stop comparing myself to others.
Another one of my downfalls is that I always say when I _______, then I'll be happy. When I lose 5 lbs, then I'll be happy. When I graduate college, I'll be happy... I put my happiness on hold because of an insecurity or flaw of mine. I just want to make 2 goals to stop comparing myself to others and to just be happy now. I don't know how long it will take but these are my top goals of 2013.

FaceLift

So if you haven't noticed, this blog has had a huge facelift. I wanted my blog to be simple but classy, the last blog design I felt was kind of cluttered and not completely what I was going for, so I hope you guys like it! Let me know!

Simple and Homemade

So because of tight budget and unwillingness to go to Target or make a product order, I've been really into making my own homemade face wash/ exfoliates/ healthy hair products...But with things I have in my own pantry. I like the idea of there being just a few ingredients, but ingredients I already have. I'm sure you have all heard of taking things like egg whites and putting them in you hair because it is said to make your hair shine and more healthy. (If you haven't, just keep reading and I know it sounds weird-->gross and maybe a little cray cray but hear me out) So I have a couple of recipes I'd like to share because I am currently trying each one of them out..at this very moment I have the baking soda/ water mixture on my face right now.
This is the first recipe (which is so simple):::

Exfoliating Face Mask
2 Tbsp Baking Soda
2 Tsp. Water

and that's it! Mix it together in a little bowl until it is a nice thick paste, add more paste or water if you think you need more to cover all of your face. I would recommend starting with a clean face and hands. Cover all of your face in a gentle circular motion and leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and rinse away. After I usually just put a little moisturizer on my face and your done!

So this 2nd recipe I found where? None other than Pinterest (no surprise there, pretty sure these recipes are all over Pinterest) And I wouldn't be surprised if you've already seen or heard of this recipe either but here it is::

Teeth Whitener
Tooth paste
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. peroxide
Put a tiny bit of toothpaste into a small cup, mix in one teaspoon baking soda plus one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, and half a teaspoon water. Thoroughly mix then brush your teeth for two minutes. Remember to do it once a week until you have reached the results you want. Once your teeth are good and white, limit yourself to using the whitening treatment once every month or two.

Let's talk Coconut Oil:: this can be used in so many different ways but the two ways I use it is::
Eye Makeup remover (+plus side makes your eyelashes grow longer and healthier)
Hair conditioning treatment

I mainly use it as a deep conditioner/ hair conditioner treatment ^^ ::
I massage a couple tablespoons of coconut oil into my hair and (if I don't have anything very important the next day) I leave the oil in my hair overnight. If you can't do overnight? I massage in the oil and wrap my head in a warm towel for a couple of hours. Then I shampoo and my hair feels silky smooth.

This is the infamous Egg Yolk treatment (yes. you can officially call me crazy. but as of being home I have a little bit more time on my hands)
I first heard of doing this from one of my friends in like the 7th grade, no joke it was a long time ago, I thought she was crazy and it just sounded gross. And here I am years later telling you all that I am indeed making it a goal to do this often. Long hair here I come.(Desperate? Maybe a little.) so here's the recipe::

Simply mix 2 egg yolks with 2 Tbsp of olive oil, dilute the mixture by adding a cup of water and then slowly and thoroughly massage this mixture into your scalp. Give it about 15- 20 minutes to absorb all the nutrients and then rinse off.

I was lucky enough the spend the whole day with these little guys, too cute for words, can't wait to have kids of my own one day.

Jacob Hansen (Aka Jakey, Jacobo, Jakey Jacob)

Tustin Hansen (Aka Tustin Baby)

Cold Weather Blues

Is anyone else so sick of this cold weather? Basically, I need snow for one day and one day only. Christmas. After that. I'm done, I am in need of a little sunshine on my pale pale skin and exercise in at least 40 degree weather. We will see how tomorrow goes, now that I am off track I am focusing on exercising and being healthy before I have to go back in April. Oh and another thing I'm pretty much stoked about.... My hair is growing! hala! I've decided to not color my hair until I go back to Rexburg in April, so my hair has time to heal and grow from all my coloring in the past. Be warned that I don't have makeup on except for a little gloss. It was one of those days when I'm like, "I think I'll get somewhat ready"..so what do I do? Curl a little here and there. and a little gloss. haha. done. Going all naturrralll people. It's the way to go these days in the Bird home.

I call him dad

So this is the post dedicated to my dad. Be forewarned that this is loaded with pictures and this is just a long post in general. Congrats if you reach the bottom haha. Anway, I really have looked up to my dad my whole life, we have had so many adventures to California together and I'm still planning on the one that is coming up ;) not so subtle? oh well..ha
He's just the kind of person that you can jam to Phoenix or Depeche Mode (90's people c'mon haha) even though we both know we sound like dying animals haha.. But the great thing is he totally gets me. I can go to him with any problem, seriously any problem and he just understands. Also, just a little personal but I've always been very self conscious about my nose and I've learned over the years the I am darn well proud of my nose, it's been in the Bird family for generations and from amazing artists (my grandpa was a painter, i'll have to dedicate a post to him in the near future...) so why change it or be ashamed of it? For a while there I seriously was considering plastic surgery. Not a lot of people know that about me except for my closest friends and obviously my parents--who said it was ultimately my decision. I had a heart to heart with my dad and he has had the same feelings in the past when he was made fun for having a big nose. I decided a long time ago that I need to be more comfortable and proud of who I am and where I came from.....
So sorry about that little rant but back to my dad..
I'm just really proud of him because he has made his name in the world of Disney and it kind of freaks me out that he has fans and people that email him and follow him through Facebook that love and know his work to a tee. I was a little shocked too when I found out my dad has 1,074 friends on Facebook. Yes ladies and gentlemen 1,074. I have what?..392? Oh and a he has a twitter account. Who knew?

So here is my daddy:::::

David Bird
My Uncle Mike (Left) Dad (right)
What a stud
So here is what my dad does:::Along with his job at The Museum of Art at BYU-Provo he is a Disney Artist--he does stained glass--it's always been his dream to be a Disney Artist and to this day he has accomplished his dreams. Here is a little taste of what he has done::::

In the Kiln

Workin' on it

Finished Product.

You can find more information about him here, just click on David Bird or go to his website here. He has had his pieces auctioned off in Disney Land, I've gone with him to a couple of the events that he's been invited to and they are so beyond cool and right within the Disney Parks. And he's met some pretty cool people along the way--Dave Avanzino has been one of these cool people--he's also a Disney artist, he's become a real family friend I highly recommend looking up some of his work. Here are some events::::

Some of the cool people he's met:::

Original Tron Cindy Morgan with One of my dads peices

The Twilight Saga Part 2 Michael Sheem
Artist Tara McPherson

ICarly say wha?
That's ma daddy right therr. Just one question. Why the heck hasn't he taken me to do this?!---->

The board he's ridin on has been in our garage for the LONGEST time. What the heck?! Why are we not using it?!
